What is Fiberboard? At Kitchen Cabinet Doors we use a medium density fiberboard (MDF). Fiberboard is a man made wood product that was first developed commercially in the 1980's. It is made by breaking down wood into clumps and fibers, similar to the way paper is made. The fibers and clumps are then mixed together with a strong adhesive and rolled into a thick mat. The mat is heated and pressed together to form fiberboard in whatever thickness is needed. When manufactured in this way all of the moisture is removed from the wood which in turn makes the strong and highly useful material we use for our products.
Can your doors be made to any size? All of our doors are custom made to within 1/8 of an inch of the door size measured, however we don't recommend doors be over 44" in height or 48" in width. Any opening over 48" should have double doors.
What is the best way to measure doors? Measure the opening and add an additional inch to the width and height. For instance if the opening is 17" wide by 29" tall then the door size is 18" x 30". This will leave a half inch area for overlay. If you are measuring a cabinet, measure the exact size of the old door.
Where do you put hinges on a door? Hinges are usually placed about 5 1/2" down from the top of the door and 5 1/2" up from the bottom of the door, depending on the door size.
Can I paint or stain the doors? You can paint the doors, they are primed and ready for paint. However you cannot stain them.
Will the glass come with doors containing glass inserts? No, but we do supply the hardware to install the glass to the back of the doors.
Why do you ask for right or left placement of hinges? Most doors can only be hung in one direction, in order for the door to swing the correct way, we need to know which side to install the hinges.
What are hidden European hinges? These are hinges that are installed (routed) into the doors and then attach to the cabinet frame. These hinges require a ½” overlay. When the doors are closed you will not see any hinge. We drill the holes and you simply insert the hinge in the hole, turn the 2 screws 1/4" and the door is ready to be installed onto the cabinet frame. (See Picture on Bottom of Cabinet Door page)

How do I measure for drawers? You will have to measure the opening, width, depth and height and minus one inch from the width and height. For instance, if your drawer opening is 17" wide by 6" high by 22" deep your drawer would be 16" x 5" x 22".
Do your drawers need assembling? Yes, they have to be glued and nailed together (glue and nails not included).
